In October 2025, India's total passenger vehicle sales experienced a robust increase of 15.8% compared to the same month the previous year, reaching 399,605 units. This marks a significant recovery from the 9.2% decrease observed in September. The data, sourced from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), does not include sales from luxury brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), and Volvo. The resurgence in sales can be attributed to heightened festive demand and a recent reduction in GST rates, despite the presence of some logistical challenges. "The GST rate cuts, effective from September 22, 2025, spurred a strong rise in vehicle registrations for October, leading to a marked increase compared to wholesales," commented Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM. When compared month-on-month, passenger vehicle sales surged by 27.8%, building significantly on the 11.4% increase seen in September.
