In the third quarter of 2025, Switzerland's industrial production saw a year-on-year increase of 2.4%, marking a rebound from an upwardly revised 2.1% growth in the preceding quarter. This recovery was primarily driven by a significant uptick in the mining and quarrying sector, where output surged by 14.3%, up from 8.6% in the second quarter. Additionally, there were notable increases in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products, which rose by 10.2% compared to 3.9% earlier, and other manufacturing, repair, and installation activities, which increased by 11.9% from 6.2%. The manufacturing sector overall expanded at a faster rate, growing by 4.9% up from 3.0%. Conversely, electricity supply witnessed a further decline in output, dropping by 6.3% following a previous decrease of 5.4%. When considered on a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, industrial activity decreased by 0.3% in the third quarter, a slight improvement from the prior quarter's downwardly revised fall of 2.2%.
