Chile's industrial production experienced a downturn of 0.4% year-on-year in October 2025, a decline from the 1.5% growth observed in September, as both the mining and manufacturing sectors displayed signs of weakening. Mining output decreased by 0.8%, a slight improvement from the previous month's -1.8%. This decline was primarily influenced by a 1.7% reduction in metallic mining, attributed to decreased copper extraction and processing activities. In contrast, non-metallic mining saw a 4.7% increase, buoyed by a rise in lithium carbonate production. The manufacturing sector also contracted, with a 0.4% decline compared to the robust 5.1% growth in September. Significant reductions were observed in sectors such as paper and related products (down 9.4%), alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (down 8.7%), and machinery and equipment (down 16.6%). In the utilities sector, output saw a modest rise, increasing by 1.1% in October following a 1.0% gain in September.
