In October 2025, Slovakia experienced a significant increase in its trade surplus, reaching EUR 560.2 million, up from EUR 319.7 million in October of the previous year. This figure significantly surpassed market forecasts, which anticipated a surplus of EUR 370 million, making it the highest surplus since June 2024. During this period, exports experienced a slight decrease of 0.4% year-on-year, totaling EUR 10,486.1 million. The decline was largely attributed to reduced shipments of machinery and transport equipment, particularly motor vehicles, which saw a 4% drop. Exports to European Union countries saw a 2% increase, while those to non-EU countries decreased by 8%. Concurrently, imports experienced a more pronounced decline of 2.7%, amounting to EUR 9,925.9 million, largely influenced by a 14% reduction in miscellaneous manufactured goods. Imports from EU nations fell by 2%, and those from countries outside the EU decreased by 4%. Over the January to October period, Slovakia's trade surplus contracted to EUR 2,297 million, down from EUR 3,089.2 million in the same period of the previous year.
