In December 2025, Vietnam experienced a reduction in its annual inflation rate to 3.48%, coming down from the previous month's eleven-month peak of 3.58%. Most sub-categories saw a deceleration in price increases, notably in housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials, which rose by 5.23% compared to 5.73% in November. Similarly, household appliances went up by 1.77%, drinks and tobacco by 2.05%, garments, hats, and shoes by 1.33%, medicines and medical services by 10.27%, education by 3.05%, and culture, entertainment, and tourism by 1.31%. Other goods and services saw a modest increase of 3.03%. Conversely, the transport sector experienced a price decline of 0.55%, down from an increase of 1.11% the previous month. However, the prices of food and beverage services surged by 4.2%, with significant increases in foodstuffs and dining out, which rose by 5.18% and 4.21% respectively. Meanwhile, deflation in the information and communication sector eased slightly to -0.25% from -0.3%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer price growth decelerated to 0.19%, the most subdued level since August, from November's rate of 0.45%.
