Argentina’s industrial production fell 8.7% year-on-year in February 2026, following a 3.2% decline in January and marking the sharpest contraction since November 2025. Output decreased in fourteen of the sixteen manufacturing divisions.

The largest declines were recorded in:

• Textiles: -33.2%
• Machinery and equipment: -29.4%
• Motor vehicles, bodies, trailers and parts: -24.6%
• Other equipment, appliances and instruments: -24.6%
• Other transport equipment: -19.8%
• Wearing apparel, leather and footwear: -18.2%
• Rubber and plastic products: -15.7%
• Tobacco products: -14.9%
• Basic metal industries: -12.5%
• Furniture, mattresses and other manufacturing: -12.3%
• Non-metallic mineral products: -7.2%
• Food and beverages: -6.9%
• Metal products: -5.7%
• Wood, paper, publishing and printing: -1.5%

By contrast, two sectors recorded growth: petroleum refining, coke and nuclear fuel rose 19.7%, and chemical substances and products increased 3.7%.

On a monthly basis, overall industrial activity contracted by 4.0%.
