Hopes for renewed diplomatic efforts faded over the weekend after US President Donald Trump canceled his envoy’s planned visit to Pakistan, while Iran dismissed negotiations held under threat. Both sides continue to impose restrictions in and around the Strait, complicating navigation through this critical shipping corridor. As a result, LNG exports from the Persian Gulf have effectively ground to a halt since the conflict began in late February, removing roughly one-fifth of global supply from the market. Investors are now closely monitoring Europe’s LNG inflows, with the region needing to secure sufficient volumes over the summer to rebuild storage ahead of next winter.
