Tin futures in the UK traded above $54,800 per tonne, retaining most of their recent gains after touching a two-month high of $56,780 on the back of robust demand expectations. Consumption remains supported by the positive outlook for AI infrastructure, given tin’s critical role in data centers.

Surging orders for Nvidia, as highlighted in its latest results, along with strong demand at memory producers Samsung and SK Hynix, have reinforced forecasts for ongoing AI-related investment. Tin’s value in precision soldering for AI hardware has led industry participants to project that tin use in AI servers could triple by 2030.

On the supply side, shipments from major producer Indonesia have remained subdued after Jakarta scaled back the issuance of export licenses. In addition, the government tightened mining permit rules and confiscated 500 tonnes of tin from unlicensed operations.
