The TAIEX, Taiwan’s benchmark stock index, climbed 538 points, or 1.1%, to close at 47,719 on Monday, marking a fourth consecutive advance and its highest level since June 22, when it hit a record peak. The gains were driven largely by strength in electronic technology shares, which rose 1.4% amid optimism surrounding the Trump–Xi summit scheduled for September 24.

TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker and accounting for more than 40% of the market’s total capitalization, added 0.8%. Among other major tech names, MediaTek, Delta Electronics, and ASE Technology Holding surged 6.4%, 8.1%, and 3.9%, respectively.

The broader market also tracked an uptick in US stock futures after the Dow Jones Industrial Average logged a third straight weekly decline. In monetary policy news, the People’s Bank of China kept the one-year loan prime rate unchanged at 3% for the 16th consecutive month. Traders were additionally awaiting the release of Taiwan’s August export orders data after the close, following a strong surge in July.
