Frankfurt’s DAX 40 climbed 0.6% to around 25,450 on Monday, rebounding from a weak prior session, with technology stocks leading the advance. A further drop in oil prices helped ease inflation worries, while constructive US–China talks ahead of Thursday’s scheduled meeting between the two presidents also bolstered risk appetite.

On the political front, Germany’s regional elections intensified pressure on Friedrich Merz and the CDU, as populist parties made gains on both the right and the left. The CDU captured only 4.9% of the vote in Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania, losing its representation in the state parliament for the first time, while Die Linke emerged as the strongest party in Berlin.

Among individual stocks, Siemens and Infineon Technologies led the DAX, each gaining more than 2%. Other notable performers included MTU Aero Engines, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Post, Siemens Energy, and SAP.
