Italy’s industrial turnover increased by 1.7% month-on-month in July 2026, following a downwardly revised 0.9% decline in June. This marked the strongest monthly gain since March, driven by a rebound in both domestic and foreign sales. Domestic turnover rose by 1.0% (after a marginal 0.1% uptick in May), while foreign turnover climbed 1.0% as well, reversing a 1.3% drop in the previous month.

Across the main industrial groupings, energy posted the sharpest monthly rise, up 6.7%. Capital goods advanced 2.4%, consumer goods 0.8%, and intermediate goods 0.6%, all contributing to the overall improvement.

On an annual basis, and adjusted for calendar effects, industrial turnover grew by 4.8% in July, accelerating from a revised 3.2% increase in June. Both domestic and foreign markets strengthened: domestic turnover rose 3.8% (vs 2.4% in June), and foreign turnover increased 6.7% (vs 4.5%).

By industrial grouping, energy recorded a particularly strong year-on-year surge of 26.9%. Capital goods turnover increased by 4.0%, and intermediate goods by 5.9%, while turnover in consumer goods was essentially unchanged.

In the services sector, turnover edged up 0.2% month-on-month in July, following a revised 0.1% increase in June.
