Business investment in the United Kingdom increased by 1.8% quarter-on-quarter in the three months to June 2026, slightly above the initial estimate of 1.7% but down from an upwardly revised 3.0% rise in the previous quarter. This was the second consecutive quarterly gain, though at a slower pace, underscoring a fragile recovery in corporate spending. Robust investment in ICT equipment and residential dwellings was partly offset by weaker spending on transport equipment. Growth in investment in other buildings and structures also moderated, while spending on intellectual property products was flat.

On an annual basis, business investment rose by 5.2%, far exceeding the preliminary estimate of 0.8% and accelerating from a revised 1.3% increase in the prior period. Meanwhile, overall gross fixed capital formation grew by 0.9% compared with the previous quarter and was 3.1% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
