Producer prices in Bulgaria increased by 17.4% year-on-year in August 2026, up sharply from a 13.7% rise in July. The acceleration was driven primarily by mining and quarrying, where prices surged 97.3% compared with 60.0% in the previous month. Within this sector, metal ore mining prices jumped 165.3% (vs 104.9% in July), and prices in other mining and quarrying activities edged up to 5.7% (vs 5.5%).

Manufacturing inflation also strengthened, with producer prices in the sector advancing 10.4% year-on-year, up from 8.8% in July. Notable contributors included basic metals (29.7% vs 25.6%), chemicals and chemical products (10.6% vs 10.3%), paper and paper products (4.1% vs 3.8%), beverages (7.6% vs 5.6%), and textiles (4.0% vs 3.7%).

In addition, prices in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector rose 13.0% year-on-year, a marked increase from 7.8% in July, underscoring mounting energy-related cost pressures.

On a monthly basis, overall producer prices advanced 3.0% in August, following a 0.4% increase in the previous month.
