Analysis of transactions and tips for trading USD/JPY

Further growth became limited as the test of 147.04 coincided with the sharp rise of the MACD line from zero. Another test occurred shortly after, and it happened when the MACD line lay within the overbought area, provoking a sell signal. This resulted in the pair falling in price by around 30 pips.

Despite the upward correction in USD/JPY caused by the weak statistics on Japan's Business Sentiment Index and the Corporate Goods Price Index, yen's growth remained, thanks to the Bank of Japan's policy aimed at abandoning an excessively accommodative stance on interest rates.

For long positions:

Buy when the price hits 147.60 (green line on the chart) and take profit at 148.16. Growth will occur after an unsuccessful attempt to consolidate around the weekly low.

When buying, ensure that the MACD line lies above zero or rises from it. Also consider buying USD/JPY after two consecutive price tests of 147.21, but the MACD line should be in the oversold area as only by that will the market reverse to 147.60 and 148.16.

For short positions:

Sell when the price reaches 147.21 (red line on the chart) and take profit at 146.55. Pressure will return in the case of an unsuccessful consolidation around the daily high.

When selling, ensure that the MACD line lies below zero or drops down from it. Also consider selling USD/JPY after two consecutive price tests of 147.60, but the MACD line should be in the overbought area as only by that will the market reverse to 147.21 and 146.55.
