Moldova's merchandise exports increased in the January to June period from the previous year.

Exports of goods increased 6.9% year-on-year to US$621 million in the January to June period, compared to a 20.7% fall in the previous year, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Friday. At the same time, imports of goods grew 11.9% to US$1.68 billion, rebounding from 35.8% decline a year ago. Thus, the trade balance showed a deficit of US$1.06 billion.

In June, merchandise exports decreased 7.9% on an annual basis to US$99.1 million, while imports grew 24.3% to US$322.7 million. On a monthly basis, exports dropped 8% in June, but imports increased 8.6%.
