Greece has been in the limelight with its possible exit from the Eurozone. In case of such scenario the Swiss National Bank is going to revise its policy.


Traditionally, traders consider the Swiss franc as a safe haven currency and the Eurozone debt crisis which has weakened the euro significantly, has put the Swiss currency rate higher.   


It is clear that expensive franc is not favorable for the export-oriented economy. With the purpose of holding its currency the Swiss National Bank holds market interventions sticking to an optimal level of 1 franc 20 rapen per euro.


However, as many bank representatives suppose, in case Greece leaves the euro area, the ceiling may be corrected, as it will be harder for the regulator to retain this level.


The bank has created a special group which is to work for holding the franc rate. There was a similar case in 70-es when the bank prohibited to invest in local companies and the real estate  and set negative deposit rates in a foreign currency. Another question is that these measures did not have success and only currency interventions could constrain the franc surging.
