07.10.202514:28:46UTC+00US Consumer Confidence Weakens to 5-Month Low: RCM/TIPP

In October 2025, the RealClearMarkets/TIPP Economic Optimism Index in the US declined to 48.3, its lowest level since May, and fell short of market predictions of 49.3. This decline marks the index's second consecutive month below the neutral threshold of 50, indicating persistent consumer pessimism. The Six-Month Economic Outlook, which assesses expectations for the economy over the forthcoming half-year, decreased by 5.9% to 42.8. Additionally, Confidence in Federal Economic Policies — a specialized measure by RCM/TIPP reflecting public sentiment towards government economic effectiveness — fell to 46.4 from 47.3. This shift ended a temporary period above 50, which had broken a 47-month streak of pessimism stretching back to September 2021. Conversely, the Personal Financial Outlook, indicating how Americans perceive their financial prospects for the next six months, increased by 4.1%, rising from 53.4 in September to 55.6 in October.
