Germany's DAX index experienced a decline of approximately 0.7%, closing at 23,556 on Friday—the lowest it has reached since September 25. This continued a trend of losses from the previous day. The downward trend was primarily due to global concerns regarding the high valuations of stocks related to artificial intelligence and the ongoing macroeconomic and monetary challenges linked to the extended US government shutdown. Additionally, investors kept a close eye on the earnings season. Zalando was the biggest loser, dropping 7.9% in a technical correction after a strong surge following positive Q3 results. Scout24 also declined, losing 4.5% after releasing its results. Conversely, Rheinmetall emerged as the top performer with a 2.4% increase, spurred by gains in Hensoldt, which rose 4.9% after the defense electronics company announced a significant rise in orders in the first nine months of 2025. The automobile sector also saw positive movement, with BMW climbing 2.2%, Porsche Automobil increasing by 1.7%, and VW advancing 1.5%, thanks to reports that China had lifted its export ban on Nexperia chips. Over the week, the DAX index recorded a decline of about 1.7%.
