06.01.202601:07:07UTC+00Irish Services PMI Drops to 3-Month Low

The AIB Ireland Services PMI decreased to 54.8 in December 2025, down from 58.5 in November, which had been the swiftest growth in the sector since May 2022. This marks the gentlest expansion since September. The easing in growth within the services sector can be attributed to a slowdown in new business growth, which hit a three-month low. Nevertheless, new business activity was robust across various sectors, led primarily by financial services. Conversely, sectors such as transport, tourism, and leisure experienced a renewed downturn in activity, marking the ninth decline in 2025. In light of the increase in new business, companies continued to boost employment, but the rate of job creation was modest in the most recent period. Regarding pricing, there was a five-month low in input cost inflation, whereas output price inflation quickened to a four-month high, remaining above the long-term survey average. Looking forward, business confidence stayed positive, driven by investments, new product launches, recruitment efforts, and recovering markets in the EU and the UK.
