Malta experienced an 8.2% year-on-year drop in industrial production in November 2025, marking the sharpest decline since April 2022. This downturn followed a revised 0.2% increase in October. The significant fall was primarily driven by a reduction in the manufacturing sector, which saw a 9% decrease. Notably, the production of computer, electronic and optical products, as well as motor vehicles, plummeted by 29.5%, while food and beverages fell by 7.8%, and other manufacturing sectors declined by 4.1%. Examining the main industrial groupings, intermediate goods saw a decrease of 12% compared to a 14% increase in October, capital goods fell by 6.8% against a prior drop of 8.1%, and consumer goods decreased by 2.6%, following no change previously. In contrast, energy production rose by 3.7%, up from 3.2%. When excluding energy, the industrial output fell by 8.7%, after stagnation in October. On a monthly basis, adjusting for seasonal factors, industrial activity decreased by 1.3% in November after a revised 0.1% increase the previous month.
