09.01.202609:06:17UTC+00Slovak Industrial Output Drops Further

In November 2025, Slovakia experienced a 4.5% decline in its industrial production compared to the same month the previous year, further deepening from a 3.8% decrease observed in October. This marked the second consecutive month of decline and the ninth contraction within the year, primarily driven by a significant downturn in the electricity and gas supply sector, which plummeted by 18.8%. This drop was the steepest since March 2022 and followed a 15.5% decrease in October. Additionally, the production of transport equipment also contributed to the downturn, falling by 6.7%, which was the third weakest monthly performance since March 2024, partly due to a challenging comparison base. On a more positive note, metal production provided some relief, rising by 5.2% from a previous increase of 2.8%. When adjusted for seasonal factors on a monthly basis, industrial output showed a 0.9% increase. Looking at the period from January to November, overall industrial production saw a 2.6% decline compared to the same timeframe last year. This decrease was notably influenced by setbacks in electricity and gas supply, metal production, and machinery and equipment sectors, while growth in transport equipment helped to partially counterbalance these losses.
