In December 2025, the United States witnessed a slight increase in job quits, reaching 3.204 million, a minor rise from the 3.193 million recorded in the previous month, which had been adjusted upward. This figure also surpassed the 3.095 million quits from the same period the previous year, marking the highest level observed in six months. Notably, job resignations saw an uptick in the retail trade sector by 87,000 and in the information sector by 28,000. Conversely, declines were seen in professional and business services, which fell by 151,000, and in private educational services, down by 19,000. The quits rate, an indicator that represents the percentage of the workforce that voluntarily left their jobs, remained steady at 2% in December, consistent with November's rate. From a regional perspective, job quits increased in the Midwest by 59,000 and in the West by 13,000, whereas the South and the Northeast experienced declines of 50,000 and 11,000, respectively.
