Industrial production in Austria fell by 3.3% year-on-year in December 2025, deepening from a downwardly revised 0.1% decline in November and marking the weakest reading since December 2024. Output in construction contracted more sharply (-12.3% vs -3.2% in November), while growth in the industrial sector turned negative (-0.3% vs +0.9%).

Among the main industrial groupings, activity in the energy sector continued to deteriorate (-9.9% vs -8%), while growth slowed for intermediate goods (2.6% vs 4.6%) and for non-durable consumer goods (3% vs 6.1%). By contrast, production of durable consumer goods accelerated markedly (23.4% vs 4.4%), and the decline in capital goods output moderated (-1.1% vs -3.5%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell 2.4% in December, following a downwardly revised 0.8% decline in the previous month.
