Consumer prices in Finland declined by 0.2% year-on-year in January 2026, following a 0.2% increase in December. The main downward pressure came from lower costs for housing and utilities (-2.3% vs. -2% in December), health (-0.1% vs. 5.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (-4.9% vs. -2%).

Inflation also eased in several categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.6% vs. 2%), information and communication (2.5% vs. 4.2%), and recreation, sport, and culture (1.3% vs. 1.9%).

By contrast, prices rose for alcoholic beverages (3.7% vs. 2.3%), clothing and footwear (0.3% vs. -0.4%), and education services (11.1% vs. 2.8%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in January, reversing a 0.2% increase in the previous month.
