19.02.202611:00:00UTC+00Portugal’s Current Account Surplus Narrows to €3.8B in December 2025

Portugal’s current account surplus eased in December 2025, slipping to €3.800 billion from €5.185 billion in November 2025, according to data updated on 19 February 2026.

The decline marks a moderation in external balances at year-end, following a stronger surplus in November. While the current account remains firmly in positive territory, the lower December reading may indicate softer export performance, higher import demand, or a combination of both, compared with the preceding month.

Analysts and investors watching Portugal’s external position will likely assess whether the December pullback signals a short-term fluctuation or the beginning of a broader trend in the country’s current account dynamics going into 2026.
