Industrial production in Slovenia declined by 3% year-on-year in January 2026, a moderation from the downwardly revised 3.7% drop recorded in December. The manufacturing sector contracted at a slower pace, with output falling 2.4% compared with a 4.5% decrease in the previous month.

In contrast, sharper declines were observed in mining and quarrying, where production slumped 16.3% after having risen 27.7% in December, and in the electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector, where output fell 6.8% following a 4.9% increase in the prior month.

By main industrial groupings, production decreased for intermediate goods (-1.8%), energy (-6.5%), and consumer goods (-11.2%), while capital goods output rose by 6.4%. On a monthly basis, overall industrial activity increased by 1% in January, rebounding from a downwardly revised 1% decline in the preceding month.
