Greece’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.7% in February 2026, up from 2.5% in January, reaching its highest level since last August. The acceleration was driven primarily by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.2% vs 4.5%) and for housing and utilities (2.6% vs 2.1%). Price growth also strengthened in clothing and footwear (10.1% vs 8.0%), health (0.5% vs 0.4%), and transport (1.0% vs 0.9%).

By contrast, prices increased at a slower pace in recreation, sport and culture (1.5% vs 2.0%) and in restaurants and accommodation services (6.5% vs 6.8%). Prices were flat for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.0% vs 2.0%) and for furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (0.0% vs -0.5%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.1%, rebounding from a 0.8% decline in January. Meanwhile, the EU-harmonized annual inflation rate increased to 3.1%, also the highest since last August, up from 2.9% in the previous month.
