Brazil's industrial output increased 0.9% month-over-month in February 2026, exceeding market expectations of a 0.7% rise and registering a second straight monthly gain. The expansion was broad-based, encompassing most surveyed sectors.

Among the highlights, production of motor vehicles, trailers, and bodies surged 6.8%, while coke, petroleum derivatives, and biofuels rose 2.5%. Machinery and equipment output also climbed 6.8%, furniture production advanced 7.2%, beverages increased 3.4%, computer and electronic products grew 3.1%, textile products expanded 4.4%, and maintenance and repair services were up 3.4%. Extractive industries and food products posted more moderate gains of 1.1% and 0.8%, respectively.

On the downside, output of pharmaceutical and chemical products fell 5.5%, exerting the main negative influence on the overall result. Compared with a year earlier, industrial production declined 0.7% in February, following a 0.2% increase in January.
