Spain’s consumer confidence weakened in April 2026, according to the latest Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI), signaling a deterioration in household perceptions of the economic outlook.

The PCSI for Spain declined to 47.16 in April 2026 from 51.21 in March 2026, moving the index below the neutral 50-point threshold on a month-over-month basis. The previous reading in March had marked a comparatively stronger sentiment level, but the latest data suggest that optimism among Spanish consumers has softened as the second quarter begins.

The figures, updated on 9 April 2026, reflect a month-over-month comparison: the current indicator captures the change from March to April, while the previous indicator measured the shift from February to March. The drop in April points to rising caution among Spanish households about current and future economic conditions.
