Rwanda’s annual inflation rate eased to 7.7% in March 2026, slightly below the eight-month high of 7.9% recorded in February. Price increases moderated in several CPI components, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.6% vs. 5.2% in February), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (13.8% vs. 15.9%), clothing and footwear (4.3% vs. 4.9%), transport (6.5% vs. 7.1%), and restaurants and hotels (18.1% vs. 18.8%).

On a month-on-month basis, however, the CPI rose by 1.7%, the fastest pace in nearly a year and up from a 1.2% increase in February. The strongest upward pressures came from food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.4%), housing and utilities (2.3%), recreation and culture (1.6%), and restaurants and hotels (1.4%).
