Sri Lanka’s producer prices rose 1.1% year-on-year in February 2026, slowing from a 3% gain in January. Agricultural producer prices fell sharply (-16.2% vs. -1.1% in January), weighed down by steep declines in both non-perennial crops (-23.1%) and perennial crops (-16.6%). In contrast, manufacturing producer inflation remained unchanged at 3.7%, despite price declines in textiles (-8.1%), printing and recorded media (-0.3%), coke and refined petroleum products (-1.9%), and furniture (-0.1%). Costs for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, however, accelerated markedly (15.5% vs. 3.2% previously). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined 0.7% in February, reversing a 0.3% increase in the prior month.
