10.07.202602:00:00UTC+00Australian Consumer Sentiment Inches Higher in July Thomson Reuters IPSOS PCSI

Australia’s consumer confidence showed a modest improvement in July, according to the latest Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI), suggesting households are slightly more optimistic about economic conditions than a month ago.

The PCSI for Australia rose to 48.18 in July 2026, up from 46.95 in June 2026, on a month-over-month basis. The data, updated on 10 July 2026, indicates a month-on-month strengthening in sentiment, following June’s weaker reading. Both the “Actual” and “Previous” comparisons assess how the index has changed relative to the prior month, highlighting a gradual month-over-month recovery in consumer mood.

While the index remains below the neutral 50-point mark that typically separates pessimism from optimism, the July uptick points to a tentative improvement in Australians’ views on their personal finances and the broader economic outlook compared with the prior month. Investors and policymakers will be watching upcoming readings to see whether this nascent improvement develops into a more sustained turnaround in consumer confidence.
