10.07.202606:45:00UTC+00French HICP Inflation Cools to 2.0% in June, Down from 2.8%

France’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) inflation eased notably in June, falling to 2.0% year-over-year from 2.8% previously, according to data updated on 10 July 2026. The figures, based on a comparison with the same month a year earlier, indicate a clear cooling in price pressures within the French economy.

Both the current and previous readings are reported for June 2026 on a year-over-year basis: the earlier 2.8% print reflects the comparison of price changes in the prior month to June of the previous year, while the latest 2.0% figure captures the change in prices in the most recent month versus June a year ago. The step down in the HICP rate suggests that inflation in France is moving closer to levels more consistent with medium-term price stability targets in the euro area.

The moderation in the French HICP will be closely watched by investors and policymakers, as it feeds into broader assessments of inflation dynamics across the eurozone. A sustained move around or below the 2% mark could influence expectations around future monetary policy decisions and the outlook for interest rates in the currency bloc.
