Jordan’s annual inflation rate eased slightly to 2.79% in June 2026 from 2.83% in May. Despite the modest decline, inflation remained close to its highest level since April 2023, reached in May, largely due to higher fuel costs. The government raised fuel prices by 11% in April—the first hike since the onset of the Middle East conflict—and implemented a partial adjustment in May.

Transportation continued to be the main driver of inflation, contributing 1.27 percentage points, as prices in the category rose 7.93%, up from 7.69% in May, underscoring the impact of more expensive fuel. Rents were the second-largest contributor, adding 0.76 percentage points, with housing prices increasing 3.96%, compared with 3.33% in May.

By contrast, inflation cooled in several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.37% vs 1.15% previously) and communication (0.28% vs 2.39%). Clothing prices declined at a faster pace, falling 0.48% after a 0.25% drop in May. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.14% in June, slowing from a 0.55% increase in May.
