21.07.202602:34:58UTC+00Indonesian Stocks Sustain Upward Momentum

Indonesian shares climbed 30 points, or 0.5%, to 6,261 in early Tuesday trade, extending gains for a ninth consecutive session and holding at a one-month high. Sentiment improved on the back of firmer U.S. equity futures and optimism over a potential new U.S.-Iran ceasefire.

Investors also reacted positively to plans for the Indonesia International Financial Center (PFII), where transactions would be conducted in foreign currencies and English would serve as the operating language, highlighting Jakarta’s ambition to become a regional financial hub.

Upside, however, was limited by caution ahead of Bank Indonesia’s policy decision, with the central bank starting its two-day meeting today after delivering a cumulative 100 bps of rate hikes between May and June to support the rupiah. Rising oil prices added external pressure and rekindled fiscal concerns, even as budget execution in the first half of 2026 remained broadly on track.

Sector-wise, technology, energy, and transportation led the advance. Notable gainers included Bayan Resources (up 1.5%), Bank Rakyat Indonesia (1.3%), Timah Tbk. (1.1%), and Astra International (1.0%).
