22.07.202612:52:08UTC+00TSX Futures Rise on Commodity Strength

Futures linked to the S&P/TSX Composite Index inched higher on Wednesday, supported by gains in commodity prices that buoyed energy and mining shares. Gold prices extended their advance on safe-haven demand amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran. Those tensions also deepened worries over potential disruptions to global energy supplies, pushing up oil and fuel prices and brightening the sales outlook for energy producers.

Investors are also watching quarterly results from US technology heavyweights Alphabet and Tesla, scheduled for release after the closing bell. On the trade front, Prime Minister Mark Carney said late Tuesday that he and US President Donald Trump had agreed to step up trade talks, following Trump’s announcement of plans to levy 50% tariffs on a wide range of Canadian imports.
