24.07.202607:10:00UTC+00Thailand Raises 2026 GDP Growth Forecast to 2.5%

Thailand's Finance Ministry has revised its 2026 economic growth forecast upward to 2.5%, from the previous estimate of 1.6%, citing stronger momentum in foreign trade, investment, and domestic consumption.

Vinit Visessuvanapoom, director of the Fiscal Policy Office, said on Friday that the improved outlook largely reflects the impact of government stimulus measures. Private investment is now projected to expand by 9% this year, while private consumption is expected to grow by 2.7%.

Exports are forecast to increase by 12.5%, a sharp upgrade from the earlier projection of 6.2%, underpinned by stronger demand from key trading partners. Data from the Commerce Ministry showed that exports in June jumped 20.8% year-on-year.

Nantapong Chiralerspong, head of the ministry's Trade Policy and Strategy Office, said the impact of a new 12.5% U.S. tariff on Thai exports is expected to be limited. The Commerce Ministry is maintaining its full-year export growth forecast of 8%, supported by easing global geopolitical tensions and robust demand in the technology sector.
