26.07.202623:50:00UTC+00Japan’s Corporate Service Prices Ease Slightly, Hinting at Softer Cost Pressures

Japan’s Corporate Services Price Index (CSPI) edged down to 3.2% year-over-year, from 3.3% previously, according to data updated on 26 July 2026. The indicator measures the change in prices that firms pay for a wide range of services, comparing the latest month with the same month a year earlier.

The modest slowdown suggests that while cost pressures in Japan’s service sector remain elevated, they may be stabilizing rather than accelerating. The previous reading—also measured on a year-over-year basis—had shown a slightly stronger pace of increase, indicating that the peak in service price growth could be passing.

For markets and policymakers, the latest 3.2% figure will be monitored as a gauge of underlying inflation dynamics in the corporate sector, particularly as companies weigh pricing power, wage demands, and investment decisions in an environment of still-positive, but marginally easing, service-price inflation.
