The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.4% to 3,799 on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component Index added 0.5% to close at 13,839. Investors are closely watching the market debut of memory-chip maker CXMT, which is expected to gauge sentiment toward semiconductor stocks after a recent AI-driven selloff sparked sharp volatility across the tech sector.

CXMT, Asia’s largest IPO so far this year, raised CNY 57.92 billion ($8.6 billion) by pricing its shares at CNY 8.66 apiece. The deal could expand to CNY 66.61 billion if the over-allotment option is fully exercised. At the IPO price, the chipmaker carries a valuation of about CNY 579 billion ($85.5 billion).

On the domestic macroeconomic front, China’s industrial profits rose 18.7% year-on-year to CNY 3.95 trillion in the first half of 2026, slightly below the 18.8% growth recorded in the January–May period. Market attention now turns to the upcoming Politburo meeting for signals of additional policy support.

Among notable decliners were PetroChina (-4.7%), CNOOC (-4.3%), Zhongji Innolight (-2.4%), Eoptolink Technology (-2.1%), and NAURA Technology (-2.2%).
