31.07.202609:48:21UTC+00Sri Lanka Producer Inflation Slows in June

Producer prices in Sri Lanka increased by 1.3% year-on-year in June 2026, slowing from a revised 3.3% rise in May. Agricultural producer prices declined at a faster rate (-10.7% vs -9.5% in May), largely reflecting weaker prices for both perennial and non-perennial crops. In contrast, prices for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply accelerated (15.8% vs 13.4%), while water collection, treatment, and supply also posted slightly faster growth (5.9% vs 5.7%). Manufacturing producer price inflation continued to pick up (3.6% vs 3.2%), driven by higher costs for chemical products, non-metallic mineral products, other transport equipment, and food products. On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 1.2% in June, after rising 1.6% in May.
