31.07.202611:30:00UTC+00Brazil’s Public Debt Edge Higher in June as Gross Debt-to-GDP Reaches 81.9%

Brazil’s gross debt burden continued its gradual rise in June 2026, with the Gross Debt-to-GDP ratio ticking up to 81.9%, compared with 81.1% in May 2026, according to data updated on 31 July 2026.

On a month-over-month basis, the latest figure underscores a continuing upward trend, as the June increase follows the advance recorded in May. The “Actual” comparison reflects June’s change relative to May, while the “Previous” comparison captures May’s movement against the prior month, highlighting a sequence of consecutive monthly gains in the debt ratio.

The steady climb in Brazil’s debt-to-GDP metric will remain a key gauge for investors and policymakers watching the country’s fiscal trajectory and its capacity to manage public finances amid evolving domestic and global economic conditions.
