10.08.202609:39:09UTC+00Rwanda Annual Inflation Accelerates Further

Rwanda’s annual inflation rate climbed to 13.8% in July 2026, up from 12.7% in June, reaching its highest level since September 2023 and marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase. The rise was largely driven by faster inflation in food prices (12.6% vs 8.0% in June), especially vegetables (17.3% vs 11.8%), as well as higher inflation in furnishings (10.4% vs 10.2%) and education (11.8% vs 11.3%). In contrast, inflation slowed in several categories, including housing and utilities (20.5% vs 23.3%), transport (27.5% vs 29.1%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (11.0% vs 13.5%), restaurants and hotels (12.8% vs 13.4%), health (2.5% vs 6.5%), and clothing and footwear (2.8% vs 4.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.3% in July, easing from a 0.4% rise in June.
