14.08.202606:45:00UTC+00French HICP Inflation Accelerates to 2.4% in July, Ending Two-Month Cooling Trend

France’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) picked up pace in July, with the year-over-year rate rising to 2.4%, up from 2.0% previously, according to data updated on 14 August 2026. The figure is based on a comparison of price changes in July 2026 versus July 2025, while the prior 2.0% reading reflected the June 2026 comparison to the same month a year earlier.

The July acceleration marks a reversal from the earlier easing in inflation pressures and suggests renewed price momentum in the French economy. While the increase keeps inflation relatively contained by recent historical standards, the move higher may draw closer scrutiny from policymakers and markets watching for signs of persistent inflation in the euro area’s second-largest economy.

The HICP measure, harmonised across EU member states, is closely monitored by the European Central Bank as a benchmark for its inflation objective. The latest uptick in France’s July reading could factor into broader eurozone inflation assessments as investors evaluate the trajectory of interest rates and the outlook for price stability.
