Slovenia’s gross domestic product grew by 5.0% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, accelerating from a revised 3.2% increase in the previous quarter. This was the fastest pace of expansion since the first quarter of 2022.

Growth was primarily supported by stronger household consumption, which rose by 3.4% compared with 2.8% in Q1, and by a smaller negative contribution from inventory changes (-0.1% vs -1.5%). Gross fixed capital formation remained robust, holding steady at a 13.2% increase. In contrast, the pace of government spending growth moderated slightly, easing to 5.2% from 5.6%.

Net exports weighed on overall growth, as imports increased by 7.6%, outstripping the 6.4% rise in exports.

On the production side, output expanded notably in several sectors, including agriculture (1.8% vs 1.1% in Q1), construction (15.9% vs 14.3%), trade, transportation and storage (5.2% vs 2.1%), and financial and insurance activities (8.3% vs 6.6%).

On a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP increased by 1.8% in Q2, following a revised 1.1% rise in the first quarter.
