25.08.202604:10:36UTC+00Japanese Shares Turn Higher

The Nikkei 225 Index rose 0.4% to above 65,700 on Tuesday, rebounding from earlier losses as select technology and AI-related stocks recovered from the previous session’s selloff. Investors also positioned ahead of chipmaker Nvidia’s earnings later this week, seeking fresh insight into the strength of AI-driven demand.

Market participants are further focused on Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech at the Fed’s annual Jackson Hole symposium on Friday, where any signals regarding the central bank’s policy outlook will be scrutinized.

On the geopolitical front, the US tightened sanctions on Iran and its trading partners in a bid to push Tehran back to the negotiating table.

Among notable gainers in the technology and AI space were Fujikura (up 5.3%), Furukawa Electric (7.4%), SoftBank Group (1.5%) and Ibiden (4.9%).
