Luxembourg’s trade deficit widened to EUR 0.83 billion in June 2026 from EUR 0.75 billion a year earlier, marking the largest shortfall since December 2025. Imports rose 12.3% year-on-year to EUR 2.26 billion, driven by higher purchases of mineral fuels and lubricants (34.1%), chemical and related products (53.2%), and machinery and equipment (25.7%). By origin, imports increased notably from Belgium (5.9%), the United States (276.8%), and Germany (1.1%).

Exports climbed 13.5% to EUR 1.43 billion, supported by stronger shipments of manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (19.2%), transport equipment (8.8%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (35.4%). Export growth was strongest toward Germany (7.6%), France (10.3%), and Belgium (9.7%).

Over the January–June period, the trade deficit widened to EUR 4.35 billion from EUR 4.26 billion in the same period a year earlier.
