In July 2026, tourist arrivals in Bulgaria declined by 1.2% year-on-year to 1,979.7 thousand, deepening from a 0.2% decrease in the previous month. Leisure and excursion trips represented the largest share of visits at 51%, followed by other purposes at 43.2%, and business travel at 5.8%.

Arrivals from European Union member states reached 1,077.6 thousand, accounting for 54.4% of all foreign visitors. Romania was the leading source market with 301.2 thousand arrivals (28% of EU visitors), followed by Germany (15.2%) and Poland (10.1%).

Tourists from other European countries totaled 740.7 thousand, or 37.4% of all arrivals. Within this group, Turkey was the largest contributor with 312.7 thousand visitors (42.2% of the non-EU European segment), followed by Ukraine (27.3%) and Serbia (13.7%).

Visitors from the rest of the world made up 2.2% of total arrivals, with Israel accounting for 86.9% of this segment. In addition, transit passengers crossing Bulgaria numbered 743.1 thousand, representing 37.5% of all visits by foreign nationals to the country.
