Georgia’s annual inflation rate inched up to 5.6% in August 2026, from a four-month low of 5.5% in July. The uptick was largely driven by stronger price growth in transport (15.2% vs 14.2% in July), housing and utilities (8.5% vs 8.3%), and health (5.2% vs 4.7%). Inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages also rose slightly, to 5.0% from 4.9%, while prices in recreation and culture accelerated to 1.5% from 1.0%.

By contrast, inflation eased in several categories, including restaurants and hotels (6.8% vs 7.9%), clothing and footwear (0.6% vs 1.1%), and miscellaneous goods and services (7.1% vs 7.6%). Education inflation remained steady at 2.4%.

Prices continued to fall for communication (-7.5% vs -6.3%) and for furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (-1.8% vs -2.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4% in August, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in July.
