03.09.202623:00:00UTC+00South Korea’s Current Account Surplus Narrows to $42.08B in July 2026

South Korea’s current account surplus eased in July 2026, slipping to $42.08 billion from $49.73 billion in June 2026, according to data updated on 3 September 2026. The latest figures suggest a moderation in external balances after a stronger performance in the previous month.

The decline in the surplus from June to July indicates a cooling in South Korea’s net income from trade in goods and services, primary income, and secondary income flows. While still firmly in surplus territory, the smaller gap may point to shifts in export demand, import costs, or income flows that investors and policymakers will be watching closely.

With the current account remaining robust but off its recent peak, markets are likely to focus on whether July’s move marks the beginning of a gradual normalization or a temporary adjustment within an otherwise solid external position for Asia’s fourth-largest economy.
