07.09.202602:41:25UTC+00Indonesian Equities Trade Higher Despite Volcano Disruptions

Indonesian stocks rose 30 points, or 0.4%, to 6,662 in early Monday trading, rebounding from the previous session’s decline as gains in the healthcare, energy, and infrastructure sectors improved sentiment. Support came from government indications that the budget for the Free Nutritious Meals program could be cut to below IDR 200 trillion, a move viewed as fiscally prudent.

Further gains were capped by a steep drop in U.S. futures, with Wall Street closed on Monday for a holiday. Domestically, concerns persisted over recent natural disasters, including eruptions at Mount Anak Krakatau over the weekend, which severely disrupted air travel and affected around 170,000 people.

Traders also remained cautious ahead of key domestic data releases this week, including August foreign exchange reserves, consumer sentiment, and July retail sales. In China, Indonesia’s main trading partner, upcoming releases of CPI, PPI, and trade data were also in focus.

Among notable movers, Adaro Andalan climbed 5.1%, Bukit Asam gained 4.9%, Kalbe Farma advanced 3.2%, and United Tractor rose 2.6%.
